Buying a UK Number: Business Verification in Engage
Buying a UK number in Engage requires business verification: what UK regulations require, what to prepare and how long it takes.
UK telecoms rules require the identity of any business taking a UK number to be verified before the number goes live. This article explains what to expect when you buy a UK number in Engage.
Why Verification Exists
UK carriers must know who operates every business number, to curb spoofed and fraudulent calls. It is a one-time check on your clinic — not on each number you buy afterwards.
What You Will Be Asked For
When the number you are buying is a UK number, the purchase flow collects your business details — the clinic’s registered name, its address, and a company identifier such as your Companies House number. Have them ready before you start; the details must match your official registration.

What Happens After You Submit
Verification is reviewed rather than instant — the number activates once the check clears. If something cannot be matched, you will be asked to correct the details and resubmit. Progress is visible on the number in Settings → Calls → Phone Numbers.
TIP: Use your clinic’s registered legal name exactly as it appears at Companies House — trading names that differ from the registration are the most common cause of a bounced verification.
