Insurance pricing (UK)

Insurance billing is included with your Pabau subscription. Pabau charges nothing per claim, per submission or per remittance — the claims dashboard, Healthcode submissions, BUPA membership lookups and remittances are all part of the product.

This guide is for practices in the United Kingdom. Claims are submitted electronically through the Healthcode clearing service, with additional tools for BUPA membership checks and insurer remittances.

What Pabau charges

  • Insurance billing features — included in your plan.
  • Per-claim fees — none.
  • BUPA membership lookups — free; you just need your own BUPA Providers Online account.

What Healthcode charges

Electronic claims travel through Healthcode's clearing service, and Healthcode bills you for that directly — Pabau doesn't add a margin:

  • Clearing Service subscription — a small monthly fee per payee provider (£9.20/month from 1 April 2026), on a rolling direct debit you can cancel and restart at any time.
  • Transaction fee — a small fee per validated invoice transmitted (previously banded by invoice value at roughly 23p–45p per invoice).

Healthcode reviews its prices each April — check healthcode.co.uk for the current rate card. You do not need a separate ePractice subscription to submit claims from Pabau — the Clearing Service is enough.

Other costs to be aware of

  • Insurer recognition — insurers may require you to be a recognised provider before they accept your claims; recognition is arranged with each insurer and is outside both Pabau and Healthcode.
  • BUPA Providers Online — registration with BUPA is free for recognised providers.
