Imaging Link Port, AE Title & IP Address
To send images to Pabau, an ultrasound machine needs three details about the computer running Pabau Imaging Link: its IP address, its port and its AE title. This guide explains where to find each one, what it means and what to do when images don't arrive.
Step 1: Find Your Details in Imaging Link
- Open Imaging Link on the clinic computer and go to the Equipment tab.
- Next to a connected machine, click Details for your engineer. For a new machine, click Add equipment → A machine on the network.
- The card headed Give these to your X-ray engineer shows the Address, Port and AE title. Click Copy or Email to engineer to send them on.
The same three values, plus a switch to stop receiving, are under Advanced: port, AE title and connection history at the bottom of the Equipment tab.
Step 2: Understand Each Setting
- Address (IP address): the network address of the Imaging Link computer, for example
192.168.1.25. Imaging Link shows the address the ultrasound machine can reach and leaves out virtual and VPN adapters. - Port: the port Imaging Link listens on. It is
11112, the standard DICOM port, unless another program on that computer already uses it. In that case Imaging Link takes the next free port and the card shows the port actually in use. - AE title: the DICOM name of Imaging Link. It starts as
PABAU-followed by the computer's name, for examplePABAU-RECEPTION, so two clinic computers never share one. Type it on the machine exactly as shown, in capitals.
TIP: Ask your IT company to give the Imaging Link computer a fixed IP address on your router (a DHCP reservation). If the address changes, for example after a router restart, the machine keeps sending to the old one and images stop arriving.
NOTE: Give each ultrasound machine a fixed IP address too. Imaging Link remembers an approved machine by its AE title and the address it first sent from. If the machine's address changes, Imaging Link treats it as a new machine and asks you to approve it again.
Step 3: Change the Port or AE Title (Optional)
Most clinics never need to change these. If your engineer asks for a particular port or AE title:
- On the Equipment tab, open Advanced: port, AE title and connection history.
- Enter the new AE title (1 to 16 letters, digits, spaces or
. _ + -) and the new port (1024 to 65535). - Click Save, then update the same values on every machine that sends to this computer.
IMPORTANT: After you change the port or AE title, every machine that sends to this computer must be updated too. Otherwise its images stop arriving.
Step 4: Add a Machine by Hand (Optional)
Normally a machine is added the first time it tests the connection and you click Yes, accept its images. To approve one in advance, use Add a machine by hand under Advanced: enter a name, the machine's own AE title and, optionally, its IP address, then click Add. When you give an IP address, only that address may send using that AE title.
Troubleshooting
- The machine's test fails. Check the Imaging Link computer is switched on, Imaging Link is running and the IP address and port on the machine match the card. Windows must treat your clinic network as Private: the Imaging Link installer opens the Windows firewall for private and domain networks only.
- The test passes but images don't arrive. The machine hasn't been approved yet. Look for A machine got in touch on the Equipment tab and click Yes, accept its images. If it was turned away, it is listed under Turned away in Advanced.
- Images stopped arriving after working before. The computer's IP address has probably changed. Compare the Address on the card with the one on the machine, and ask your IT company for a DHCP reservation.
- Imaging Link shows "Can't receive". Another program may hold the port, or Windows may have blocked it. Open Advanced to see the reason, and use Recent connections to see what each machine tried.
