How to Format Forms to Include Code Lookup
Code lookup (ICD codes) is a tool that allows healthcare professionals to search for and find standardized codes related to various aspects of patient information. These codes are used for documentation, billing, and communication purposes.
Step 1: Navigate to Setup
Start by logging into your Pabau account using your login credentials. Then, navigate to the Setup page where you can find the 'Forms' tab under the Clinical section.
NOTE: The code lookup (ICD code) component can only be added to a treatment note.
Step 2: Create or Edit Form
Once you're in the editing or creation stage of the form, you can customize all the components, set required options, and make adjustments to suit your specific needs.
Step 3: Add Code Lookup Component
To add the code lookup component, you need to scroll all the way down in the components tab. Drag and drop the component to the screen, or click it so it appears.
Step 4: Configure Component
To configure the Code Lookup component, hover over it and click the Edit icon. On the right-hand side, you'll see the component settings, that include the options to add a title and select the type of code you want to enable for searching within the form.
Problem:
- Code Lookup: Searching for diagnostic or condition-related codes for current health problems or conditions.
- Example: ICD codes for chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes mellitus, hypertension).
History:
- Code Lookup: Searching for codes related to past medical conditions, surgeries, or treatments.
- Example: ICD codes for previous surgeries (e.g., appendectomy, gallbladder removal).
Family:
- Code Lookup: Finding codes to document genetic conditions or health conditions that run in the patient’s family.
- Example: ICD-10 codes for family history of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, etc.
Allergy:
- Code Lookup: Identifying codes for allergens or adverse reactions to medications, foods, or environmental factors.
- Example: ICD codes for allergic rhinitis, drug allergies, or food allergies.
Diagnosis:
- Code Lookup: Looking up specific diagnostic codes used to describe the patient's current condition or disease.
- Example: ICD-10 codes for specific diseases (e.g., pneumonia, asthma).
Social:
- Code Lookup: Searching for codes related to a patient’s lifestyle factors that can impact their health, such as smoking, alcohol use, occupation, and living situation.
- Example: ICD or SNOMED codes for smoking status, alcohol use disorder, or employment-related health risks.
Step 5: Save Component
Once you've configured the component settings, ensure to select the save component button on the bottom right corner of the settings.
Step 6: Create/Save Form
To finalize, make sure to click either the 'Create' or 'Save Form' button, depending on whether you're creating a new form or updating an existing one. The button label will change accordingly.
By following these steps, you'll be able to format your treatment notes to include code lookup (ICD Codes).
How to Use Code Lookup in the Client Card
Step 1: Navigate to a Client Card
Start by logging into your Pabau account using your login credentials. Then, navigate to the search bar at the top of the page and type at least three letters of the client name to pull up their client card.
Step 2: Write a Treatment Note
In the client card, navigate to the create button represented as a blue plus sign on the bottom right corner of the screen. This will reveal a list of actions you can take in the client card. Proceed to select 'Treatment note'.
Once you select this action, all treatment note templates you've created in the system will be listed. Ensure to select the form that contains the code lookup component.
Step 3: Search for Code
In the code lookup field, you can search for codes by using the hashtag (#) symbol.
Step 4: Save Form
Once you're completed all the fields, click the 'Save form' button.
Step 5: Review Client Card Summary
To check if the code is populated in the client card, navigate to the Summary tab, then, depending on whether the code you've set is related to a problem, allergy, social history, or medical history, go to the corresponding section to verify if the code appears.
By following these steps, you can populate ICD codes in the client card.
