[Products](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/products-stock?hsLang=en#products) # How to Use Automatic Consumption ## This article explains how to use the automatic consumption feature in Pabau In Pabau, you can link a service with a product so that when the service is booked, the consumable product is automatically included in the point of sale. If you did not use the product, you can remove it at the point of sale. #### Step 1: Navigate to Services Start by [logging in to your Pabau account](http://app.pabau.com) using your login credentials. Simply select the product you'd like to link to the service by ticking the box next to it. When you choose this service at the point of sale, the associated product will be automatically pre-selected and displayed directly below it. ![Screenshot - 2026-10-20T145904.351](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Products%20and%20Stock%20Category/Screenshot%20-%202026-10-20T145904.351.png?width=255&height=405&name=Screenshot%20-%202026-10-20T145904.351.png) By following these steps, you can link a service with a product. #### **How do I remove a product that was added automatically?** When you add the service to a new sale, each product linked to it is added on its own line beneath it. If you didn’t use a product, click **Remove** (the ×) on that product’s line. Removing the service itself also removes the products that came with it. #### **Why can’t I remove it?** There are two places where an automatically added product can’t be removed: - **You are taking payment for an invoice that has already been raised.** The checkout then shows the invoice exactly as it was saved, so no line can be removed there. Close the checkout, open the invoice from the client’s card, go to the **Items** tab, remove the product and save, then take the payment. - **The invoice’s items are locked.** On the **Items** tab, the remove button is hidden when the invoice has a credit note (or is one), includes a user fee, or has fields locked by a Xero sync. You also can’t remove the last item on an invoice — Pabau shows **Cannot delete item**. **TIP:** If you find yourself removing the same product every time, unlink it from the service instead: open the service, expand **Advanced Settings** and remove the product there (see Step 3). *Where this comes from: the products added at checkout are the items linked to the service under **Setup → Services →** the service → **General** → **Advanced Settings.*** --- Was this guide helpful?
