This guide will walk you through the steps to set default values in medical forms.
Default values in medical forms allow you to pre-fill certain fields with information that will be displayed to the client while they are completing the form.
This feature saves time for clients by automatically inserting details you already have inside your system, such as their name, date of birth, or other relevant data. A default value means that the answer to a question will be pre-populated based on the merge tag used in the Default value field.
Step 1: Navigate to Forms
Log into your Pabau account and go to Setup. From there, click on "Forms" under the Clinical section.
Step 2: Open a Form
In Forms, you can create a new form or modify an existing one. To edit a form, go to the Edit Form section and open the Components tab.
NOTE: If you need guidance on creating or editing forms, please refer to this article.
Step 3: Choose a Component
In the Components module, add the component with drag and drop to the builder menu, where you want to apply a default value. Default values can be added to the following components:
- Long Answer
- Short Answer
- Multiple Choices
- Dropdown
Step 4: Add a Default Value
Click on the component you want to use. A settings panel will appear on the right side of the page.
Enter the question for this field for example Full Name, then click on "Show advanced settings".
Under the Default values section, click on "Add".
Next, in the "Personalize Default Field" section, click the merge tag icon to open a new window. Select the merge tag that corresponds to the question field.
For example, if the question is "First Name," choose Client > First Name to automatically populate the field with the client's name.
Click the merge tag to insert it into the component.
Step 5: Save the Component
Once you have added the necessary merge tag, click on "Save Component".
You can apply default values to multiple components within the same form. Once you have finished designing your form, click on "Save Form" in the top-right corner of the page.
When the client receives this form, their First Name (or any other selected default value) will be automatically filled in based on the information stored in your system.
TIP: You can combine default values and linked fields for seamless data updates.
If a form's component includes a Last Name field with both a default value and a linked field, any changes made by the client will automatically update their client card.
For example, if a client updates their last name in the form at any point, the change will be mirrored in their record without requiring manual entry.
You can refer to this article for more insights on how to create linked fields.
By following these steps, you will successfully add default values to your medical form, making the process more efficient for both you and your clients.
