How to Scan a Product

Step 1: Set Up Product Scanner

Typically, the barcode scanner comes with a USB cable that can be plugged into your desktop or laptop. So start by plugging your product scanner into your desktop. For more information, follow the instructions in this article.

Step 2: Navigate to Stock 

Once you are logged in to your Pabau account using your login credentials, proceed to navigate to Stock, located on the left sidebar menu. Click Inventory to start a new stocktake.

Step 3: Start a New Count

Step 4: Ensure the Product has a Barcode

To find the barcode of a product in Pabau, navigate to Stock and select Products. 

Locate the product you want to add or check the barcode of and click on it. The barcode will be displayed in the General tab. 

NOTE:  For the scan to work, the barcode needs to be added to the product beforehand in the details.

Step 5: Use the Barcode Scanner

When starting a new inventory count, you can activate a toggle located at the top right corner of the page to add the barcode for easier product search. Next, run the barcode scanner over the barcode. You can also manually enter the barcode and press the enter key after adding the barcode to pull up the product.

  • Barcode Support: Opt for scanners that can read both 1D and 2D barcodes to accommodate a variety of product labels.

  • Connection Type: USB-connected scanners are generally more straightforward to set up and offer reliable performance.
