For Patients: How-to Guides
How to Remove an Insurance from Being a Default Payer
In this article, we’ll explain how to remove an insurance from being set as the default payer for a client in Pabau. This can help ensure that invoices are billed to the correct party, especially when a client has multiple payers on file.
NOTE: Only one insurance can be set as the default payer at a time. Removing the default status does not delete the insurance relationship, it simply removes it as the primary payer. Make sure to assign a new default payer if necessary to ensure accurate billing.
Step 1: Navigate to the Client Card
Log in to your Pabau account and search for the client using the search bar at the top. Click on the client’s name to open their client card.
Step 2: Access the Relationships Section
Once inside the client card, navigate to the avatar menu on the left side of the screen. Click on the second dot to open the Relationships section, where you can view all linked contacts such as insurers, family members, or other third-party payers.
Step 3: Identify the Default Insurance
After accessing the relationships, look for the insurance marked as the default payer. It will be clearly highlighted in green and display a debit card-style icon.
Step 4: Remove the Default Payer
Hover over the green icon to reveal a tooltip saying “Click to remove from default payer.” Click the icon, and a confirmation prompt will appear.
Click ''Confirm'' to remove the insurance as the default payer.
After confirmation, the icon will turn from green to gray, showing that it is no longer the default insurance.
By following these steps, you can easily manage or update who is responsible for covering a client’s charges, ensuring accuracy in your billing process.
