How to Enable Tips in Pabau

Step 1: Access Tip Settings

First, log into your Pabau account. From the left sidebar menu, select Setup, then click on Policies under the "Financials" section. 

On the Policies page, choose "Tips" to begin configuring your settings.

Step 2: Enable Online and Terminal Tipping

In this section, you can configure when clients will be prompted to leave a tip during online or terminal payments. Each option can be enabled individually, depending on how your clinic prefers to collect tips:

• Enable tipping on pay by text or card terminals
  This option will display the tipping prompt when clients pay through the Pabau app or at your in-store payment terminals. It’s ideal if you want to encourage tipping immediately at the point of payment.

• Enable tipping on thank-you messages after checkout
  When enabled, clients will see a tipping prompt included in the thank-you message they receive after their appointment is checked out. This is useful for clients who may prefer to add a gratuity after the service, once they’ve had time to reflect on their experience.

• Enable tipping for past appointments
  With this option, clients will be able to leave a tip when reviewing a past appointment or leaving feedback. It gives an additional opportunity to capture tips, even if the client didn’t leave one at checkout.

To enable your preferred options, simply switch the toggle next to each setting.

Step 3: Configure Point of Sale Tipping

You can decide how clients add tips when paying in your clinic or business. Pabau gives you two ways to enable tipping at checkout: directly in Point of Sale (POS) or through Pabau Connect.

Enable tipping during Point of Sale checkout

• Turn this on if you want clients to be prompted to add a tip while completing a sale at your POS terminal.

• If disabled: Clients can still add a custom tip manually via the cart menu, but they won’t see the tip prompt automatically.

Enable tipping through Pabau Connect

• Turn this on if you want clients to be prompted to tip while checking out through Pabau Connect (online or mobile checkout).

• If disabled: Clients can still manually add a tip through the cart menu, but the automatic tip prompt won’t appear.

Step 4: Set Suggested Tip Values

In this section, you can set the tip options that clients will see at checkout. These appear as quick-select buttons to make tipping fast and simple. Clients can still enter a custom tip amount if they prefer.

You can set up to five suggested tip values. These can be fully customized, for example, you might choose 10%, 15%, 25%, 30%, and 35%. You can also repeat values if needed.

At checkout, clients will be able to:

• Choose one of the suggested tip values

• Enter a custom tip amount

• Choose ''No tip''

These settings help simplify tipping while encouraging fair gratuity for your team.

Step 5: Save and Activate Tipping

Once you’ve configured all tipping settings and suggested values, make sure to activate tipping by turning on the toggle switch in the top-right corner of the Tip Settings page. Then click ''Save'' to apply your changes.

This shows how the tipping options appear in POS at checkout, including the suggested tip buttons, the option to enter a custom amount, or select no tip.
