# How to Create a Marketing Source

## This article covers how to create marketing sources in Pabau.

Recording where each client and lead came from gives you detailed reports later on. In Pabau, you create marketing sources (for example Instagram, Google or a local event) and then pick one in the **Referred By** field of each client and lead.

**Step 1: Navigate to Setup**

Start by [logging in to your Pabau account](http://app.pabau.com) using your login credentials. Then, navigate to the [Setup page](https://app.pabau.com/setup) in the left sidebar menu. Under the Marketing & Communication section, you will find [Marketing Sources](https://app.pabau.com/setup/marketing-sources).

**Step 2: Create a Marketing Source**

1. Click **Create Marketing Source** at the top right of the page.
2. In **Create marketing source**, type the source's **Name**. Name it after a recognised channel, such as Instagram, Google or Word of mouth, and it picks up that channel's logo automatically; the logo preview appears beside the name as you type. Other names get a simple icon or their initials.
3. Leave **Active** switched on (or switch it off to add the source as inactive), then click **Create**.

The new source appears on the **Marketing Sources** list with its logo. Use **Search** to find a source, and the **Active** button beside it to switch between active and inactive sources.

**Step 3: Choose the Source on Clients and Leads**

Your marketing sources appear in the **Referred By** field in the details of the client card and of each lead.

If your clinic uses the classic client portal, you can also let new clients pick a marketing source when they register: in **Setup** \> [Client Portal](https://app.pabau.com/setup/client-portal), turn on the "How did you hear about us?" registration field.

**NOTE:** The new client portal has no registration-field settings: new clients give only their name and email address to create an account.

**Step 4: See the Leads Who Came From a Source**

1. On **Marketing Sources**, each source shows its logo.
2. Click **View leads** on a source's row.

The **Leads** list opens showing only the leads referred by that source. A chip above the list, such as **Source: Facebook & Instagram**, shows the filter is on.

1. Click the **×** on the chip to clear the filter and see all your leads again.
