How to Add Merge Tags in Templates
In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of adding merge tags into templates in Pabau. Merge tags help personalise your communications by automatically inserting client and appointment details into your emails, SMS messages, or letters.

Step 1: Access Templates
Log in to your Pabau account, and in the left sidebar menu, navigate to Setup, go to Marketing & Communication, then select Communications, and finally, choose Templates.
Step 2: Create or Edit a Template
You can either create a new template or edit an existing one to add merge tags.
For example, to create a new email template, click ''Create New Template'', select ''Email'' as the template type, and enter the basic details such as the template name and subject line.

Step 3: Adding Merge Tags
Inside the template editor, you can personalise your message by inserting merge tags. To do this:
- Click on the Merge Tags panel within the editor.
- From there, choose the merge tags you want to include. These can be related to clients, appointments, or other available categories depending on what information you wish to pull automatically into your message.
For example, inserting the [CLIENTFIRSTNAME] tag will automatically add the client’s first name when the message is sent.
NOTE: Make sure that the client card contains accurate and up-to-date information, as merge tags pull data directly from these fields to personalise your communications. Incorrect or missing details may result in incomplete or inaccurate messages.
