# How to Use Pabau's Video Conferencing Feature

## Pabau's video conferencing feature makes it easy for doctors and clients to meet online. This guide will show you simple steps to use this feature for virtual appointments.

Pabau Video lets you hold video consultations with your clients straight from your browser, with nothing to install. When you book a client in for a virtual service, the appointment gets its own video link: the client receives theirs in the booking confirmation email, and you join from the calendar, the client's card or the Video page.

**NOTE:** Video consultations need a virtual service (see [How to Create a Virtual Service](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/title-how-to-create-a-virtual-service?hsLang=en)) and video credits in your wallet, unless your clinic is on a Care plan. Only the practitioner's time in the call is charged.

**Step 1: Join From the Calendar**

1. In the **Calendar**, click the virtual appointment and choose **Join with Pabau Video**. The call opens in a new browser tab.
2. The button beside it (**Copy Link**) copies your own link to the call, for example to open it on another device. To send the client their link, use **Share patient link** on the next screen.

**NOTE:** If your clinic is out of video credits, clicking **Join with Pabau Video** shows a message asking you to top up, with a **Top-up Credits** button.

**Step 2: Or Start From the Video Page**

The Video page (**More** → **Video** in the left sidebar) lists the day's video appointments, who is waiting and who is next.

1. Click **Start consultation** on an appointment to join it.
2. Click an appointment to see its **JOINING LINKS**: the **Patient link**, your **Staff link** and a **Guest link** for anyone else who should join, such as a relative or an interpreter. Click **Copy** next to the one you need.

**Step 3: Get Ready**

Before the call starts you see the **Ready to go?** page. Your camera preview is only visible to you, and the client is kept in the waiting room until you join.

1. Turn your microphone and camera on or off with the buttons under the preview.
2. Click **Run pre-call test**, then **Run test**, to check your **Microphone**, **Camera**, **Network connection** and the **Pabau media servers**. It takes about 10 seconds and ends with **You are ready for the call.** when everything passes.
3. Click **Advanced settings** to choose a different camera, microphone or speaker, or to blur your background.

**Step 4: Share the Link and Start**

The panel on the right shows the appointment time and length, the client and the service.

1. If the client can't find their email, click **Copy** under **Share patient link** and send them the link another way.
2. Click **Start consultation**. If the client is already waiting, they're brought into the call automatically within a few seconds.

**NOTE:** If you don't have enough video credits, this page tells you so and you can't start the call until you top up.

**Step 5: During the Call**

The top of the screen shows the service and client, **End-to-end encrypted**, and a **Live** timer for how long the call has been running. The client appears in the main view, with each person's tile on the right.

1. Is the client late? Click the bell (**Send Email Reminder**) to email them a reminder using your clinic's appointment reminder template. A message confirms who it was sent to.
2. Click **Open client card** to open the client's card in a panel beside the call, so you can check their details and notes without leaving it. Click the cross to close the panel.

**TIP:** The client can't see the client card panel. They only see what you show them if you share your screen.

**Step 6: Use the Call Controls**

1. **Copy patient link** copies the client's link again, if they drop out and need it.
2. **Mute** turns your microphone off and on.
3. **Camera** turns your camera off and on.
4. **Share** shares your screen, a window or a browser tab with the client.
5. **End call** leaves the consultation. You return to the **Ready to go?** page, so you can rejoin with **Start consultation** if you need to.

**More** (the three dots) holds **Full screen**, picture-in-picture (where your browser supports it), **Background** (to blur what's behind you) and **Settings** for your camera, microphone and speaker.

**If Your Camera or Microphone Doesn't Work**

Your browser has to be allowed to use your camera and microphone. If it was blocked, open your browser's site settings, allow the camera and microphone for the Pabau video page, and reload the page. On a Mac, also check **System Settings** → **Privacy & Security** → **Camera** and **Microphone**; on Windows, check **Settings** → **Privacy** → **Camera** and **Microphone**.
