[Reports](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/analytics?hsLang=en#reports) # How to Use Filters in the Discounts Report ## This article explains how you can generate and customize the Discounts report in Pabau. #### Step 1: Navigate to Analytics Start by **logging into your Pabau account** using your login credentials. Then, navigate to the left sidebar menu, where you can find the **Analytics** tab. Click on the report name to continue. ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-52-53-1927-AM.png?width=201&height=432&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-52-53-1927-AM.png) #### Step 3: Review the Default Filters The Discounts report opens with **3 filters applied**, stacked together with "and," meaning every filter must be true for a record to appear: - **Line Item** where **Item Category** is **Service** — restricts the report to line items sold under the Service category, so product or package discounts aren't mixed in - **and Line Item** where **Disc %** is more than **0.01** — excludes any line item that had no discount at all, so you're only seeing sales that were actually discounted - **and Invoice** where **Invoice Date** is in **This month** — narrows the report to invoices raised in the current calendar month Show Image Each part of a filter — object, field, operator, and value — can be clicked and changed independently, which is what the rest of this article walks through. #### Step 4: Change the Object Clicking on the object (e.g. "Line Item") opens a dropdown of everything you can build a filter around. ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-57-20-0684-AM.png?width=281&height=291&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-57-20-0684-AM.png) - **Line Item** — an individual product, service, or package sold; use this for anything relating to what was discounted - **Client** — the person the sale relates to - **Invoice** — the invoice the sale sits on - **Service** — the treatment itself - **Appointment** — the booking linked to the sale - **Product** — a physical stock item - **Payment** — the payment taken against the invoice #### Step 5: Change the Field Clicking on the field opens a much longer, **scrollable** list, since a line item carries a lot of detail. This is where you choose exactly what aspect of the discount or sale you want to filter on. ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-59-13-3363-AM.png?width=275&height=328&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-07-59-13-3363-AM.png)   Some of the most useful fields for a discount-focused report include: - **Item Category** — filters by the type of item sold (Service, Product, Package, etc.), which is what powers the default filter - **Discount** — the monetary value of the discount applied - **Disc %** — the percentage discount applied - **Discount Reason** — the reason recorded for the discount, useful for auditing why discounts were given - **Unit Discount** — the discount amount applied per unit - **Item Gross** — the item's price before any discount, tax, or additional charges - **Item Net** — the item's value after discount, excluding tax - **Item Tax** — the tax amount charged on the item - **Profit** — the margin remaining on the item after cost is accounted for - **Voucher Code / Voucher Type / Voucher Status / Voucher Amount / Voucher Remaining / Voucher Expiration Date** — relevant if the discount relates to a gift voucher redemption - **Package Status / Package Redeemed / Package Remaining / Package Expiration Date / Package Service Name / Number of Sessions / Package Valid From Date** — relevant if the discount relates to a package - **Commission** — the commission earned on the item, useful if you want to see how discounts are affecting payout - **Item Employee** and **Item Client** — filter by who sold or who received the discounted item - **Quantity** and **Unit Price** — filter by how many units were sold and their price before discount Picking a field here decides what the operator and value in the next steps will actually test. #### Step 6: Change the Operator (Category-Style Fields) For a field like **Item Category**, which has a fixed set of possible answers rather than a number or date, the operator list looks different: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-01-28-0754-AM.png?width=296&height=257&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-01-28-0754-AM.png) - **is** — only include the exact category chosen - **is not** — exclude the category chosen - **is empty** — only include records with no category recorded - **is not empty** — only include records that have a category recorded - **is any of** — include records that match **any** of several categories you select, useful if you want Services and Products together in one report - **is none of** — exclude every category you select at once, the inverse of "is any of" "Is any of" and "is none of" are what let you filter on multiple values in a single rule, instead of having to add a separate filter for each category. #### Step 7: Choose the Value Clicking on the value for **Item Category** opens a search box along with every category type currently used in your account: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-02-05-6597-AM.png?width=302&height=351&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-02-05-6597-AM.png) - **Service** - **Product** - **Package** - **Voucher** - **On Account** - **Service Charge** - **Membership** - **Packages** - **Gift Cards** If you'd set the operator to "is any of," you could tick both **Service** and **Product** here to see discounts across both categories at once. #### Step 8: Adjust the Second Filter — Discount Percentage The second filter row uses the same object/field logic. Clicking on the object shows the same list from Step 4, so you can repoint this row at a different object entirely if needed. Show Image Clicking on the field opens a scrollable field list from Step 5: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-12-01-5450-AM.png?width=363&height=422&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-12-01-5450-AM.png) Show Image Show Image Show Image Show Image Show Image By default this row is set to **Disc %**, which is what actually confirms a discount took place, rather than just filtering by category. #### Step 9: Change the Operator (Numeric Fields) For a numeric field like **Disc %**, the operator list is built for comparing numbers rather than matching a fixed option: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-13-17-3596-AM.png?width=286&height=267&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-13-17-3596-AM.png) - **is** — only include records matching the value exactly - **is not** — exclude records matching the value - **is empty** — only include records with no value recorded - **is not empty** — only include records that do have a value recorded - **is more than** — only include records above the value entered, which is how the default filter excludes 0% discounts - **is less than** — only include records below the value entered, useful for finding smaller discounts - **is more or equal to** — only include records at or above the value entered - **is less or equal to** — only include records at or below the value entered #### Step 10: Edit the Value Clicking directly on the value (e.g. "0.01") opens a small text box where you can type a new number and click **Save** to apply it. ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-13-36-3195-AM.png?width=222&height=161&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-13-36-3195-AM.png) This is the quickest way to fine-tune a threshold — for example, changing 0.01 to 10 would limit the report to discounts of more than 10%, rather than any discount at all. #### Step 11: Adjust the Third Filter — Invoice Date The third filter row follows the same object/field/operator/value pattern, applied to the **Invoice** object. Clicking on the object shows the same list from Step 4: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-14-45-6189-AM.png?width=310&height=357&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-14-45-6189-AM.png) Clicking on the field opens a scrollable list of everything recorded against an invoice: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-27-55-9157-AM.png?width=326&height=381&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-27-55-9157-AM.png) Some of the most useful fields here include: - **Invoice Date** — when the invoice was raised, which is what controls the reporting period by default - **Payment Status** — whether the invoice is paid, unpaid, or partially paid - **Balance** — the amount still owed on the invoice - **Tax** and **Gross** — the tax charged and the total value including tax - **Paid** — the amount already paid against the invoice - **Type** — the kind of invoice (e.g. standard sale, credit note) - **Issued By** and **Issuing Company** — who raised the invoice and under which business entity - **Tip** — any tip recorded on the invoice - **Sent Date** and **Sent Status** — whether and when the invoice was emailed to the client - **Sync Xero** — whether the invoice has synced to Xero, useful for accounting checks Filtering on **Balance** or **Payment Status** instead of date, for example, would let you focus this report on unpaid discounted invoices rather than a time period. For a date field like **Invoice Date**, the operator list controls how the date compares to your chosen point in time: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-28-54-4635-AM.png?width=263&height=235&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-28-54-4635-AM.png) - **is** — only invoices raised on an exact date - **is not** — excludes invoices raised on an exact date - **is later than** — only invoices raised after a given date - **is earlier than** — only invoices raised before a given date - **is exactly or later than** — includes the date itself plus everything after it - **is exactly or earlier than** — includes the date itself plus everything before it - **is now until** — only invoices raised between now and a date you specify - **is empty** — only invoices with no date recorded - **is not empty** — only invoices that do have a date recorded Clicking on the value opens the same **Favourite Intervals** list used elsewhere in Pabau reports — rolling date ranges that update automatically each time the report runs: ![](https://support.pabau.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-29-26-7923-AM.png?width=353&height=401&name=image-png-Jul-23-2026-08-29-26-7923-AM.png) - **Today** — from midnight until the current time - **Yesterday** — the previous 24 hour day - **This month** — the current calendar month, and the default for this report - **This year** — the current calendar year, useful for year-to-date discount totals #### Step 12: Review the Data Once your filters are set the way you want, the report updates automatically, showing every discounted line item that matches your rules, along with columns like Invoice Date, Item Name, and Item Client. **NOTE:** As with other Pabau reports, you can add or remove columns, save your changes, and export the results as Excel or CSV using the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the screen.
