# How to Show Lab Results in the Client Portal

**NOTE:** This guide covers the new Online Bookings and Client Portal, which are being rolled out to clinics in phases. If your screens look different, your account may still be on the classic version — message us via the in-app chat and we will help.

In this article, you will learn how to show lab results to your clients in the client portal, which results they can see, and how to let clients import their own lab reports so your team has them on file before an appointment.

**Step 1: Open the Lab Results Feature**

Click **Setup** in the sidebar, choose **Online presence** and click **Client Portal**. On the **Essentials** tab, scroll down to the clinical features. Then:

1. Click the **Lab results** card.

**Step 2: Turn On Lab Results and Choose Whether Clients Can Import**

1. Switch **Status** on. The card shows **Enabled** and **Lab Results** is added to the client’s portal menu.
2. Under **Feature settings**, switch on **Allow clients to import their own lab results** if you want clients to upload their own lab reports. This setting is off until you turn it on.

Your changes are saved as soon as you flip a switch — there is no save button.

**Step 3: Share Results with Your Client**

Turning on the page does not publish anyone’s results. A client only sees a result after your team has shared it with them from their client card — see [How to Review and Share Lab Results (New Client Card)](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/how-to-review-share-lab-results-0?hsLang=en). Only results with the status **Received**, **Reviewing** or **Sent** appear — **Backlog**, **Requested** and **Cancelled** ones stay hidden, even if they were shared.

On their **Lab Results** page, the client sees:

- **Lab insights** — each biomarker with its range, whether it is optimal, high or low, and the change since their previous result.
- A card for each shared result with the date, the lab, its reference number and its status. Clicking the card opens every value, with **High** or **Low** next to anything out of range.

**TIP:** The page tells clients that their clinician will talk them through the results. Review a result with the client before you share it, especially if anything is abnormal.

**Step 4: How Clients Import Their Own Results**

If you switched on **Allow clients to import their own lab results**, the client sees an **Upload results** button on their **Lab Results** page. They:

1. Click **Upload results**.

1. Choose the lab under **Lab**, or leave it on **None (auto detect)**. Only the labs your clinic already uses are listed.
2. Click **Choose file** and pick the PDF report from their lab.
3. Click **Parse**. Pabau reads the report, which can take up to a minute and a half.
4. On **Confirm results**, they check the values Pabau found and click **Confirm & Import**.

The client portal uses the same reading tool as [Import past results](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/how-to-import-lab-results-using-ai-new-client-card?hsLang=en) on the client card, so the same tips apply: original PDFs from the lab work best, and scans, photos and screenshots cannot be read. Each file can be up to 20 MB, and a client can have up to 10 reports read per hour.

**Step 5: Review What Clients Import**

An imported report is added to the client’s **Lab Tests** on their client card with the status **Received**, so your team knows it has not been reviewed yet. The client can see it on their **Lab Results** page straight away, because they uploaded it themselves.

**NOTE:** Clients can only add results to their own record. They cannot change results your clinic has ordered, and they cannot add new labs to your account. If the same report has already been imported, it is not added a second time.
