By integrating Parchment, Pabau clinics in Australia can send electronic prescriptions (eScripts) through the eRx script exchange without leaving their clinical workflows. You create the patient from Pabau, prescribe in Parchment's dedicated interface, and the resulting prescriptions flow back into the patient's record in Pabau automatically — keeping every script aligned with the patient's chart.
NOTE: The Parchment integration is available for clinics in Australia. You will need a Parchment organisation account — if your clinic does not have one yet, contact Parchment at parchment.health before starting the setup.
Step 1: Navigate to Setup
Start by logging into your Pabau account using your login credentials. Then, navigate to the Setup page by clicking "Setup" located at the bottom of the left sidebar menu.
Step 2: Access ePrescriptions
Under the Clinical section, you will find the ePrescriptions section.
Step 3: Copy Your Credentials From Parchment
The integration authenticates with three values from your Parchment organisation. In the Parchment portal, go to Settings → Organisation → Edit → Partner Integrations, find the Pabau tile, and copy the following:
Organisation ID - Your Parchment organisation's unique identifier.
Organisation secret - The signing secret for your organisation. Treat this like a password.
User ID - The Parchment user the integration connects as.
Step 4: Connect Parchment in Pabau
On the "Pharmacies" tab, with the region filter set to AUS, you will find the Parchment option. Click Connect to open the Parchment settings, then paste the three values from Step 3 and click Save credentials. Pabau validates the connection automatically — once successful, the modal shows a green Validated tag and the Parchment card shows Connected.
NOTE: Prescribing actions are attributed to the staff member performing them. For that to work, each staff member's Pabau login email should match their user email in your Parchment organisation — ask your Parchment organisation admin to add your team with the same email addresses they use to log into Pabau.
Step 5: Enable Your Prescribers
On the ePrescriptions page, the Your Prescribers panel lists the team members who can send eScripts. Click Manage prescribers to grant prescriber rights to the relevant staff members — only staff with prescriber rights can send prescriptions to Parchment.
Step 6: Create and Sign the Prescription
From the client card, go to the Prescriptions tab, click + Create and choose Prescription. Search the medication (PBS/MIMS), then complete the dose, frequency, route and quantity — the clinical reference panel alongside shows the drug's side effects, cautions and indications as you build the prescription.
Click Issue & sign prescription and draw your signature to issue it.
Step 7: Send as eRx
On the issued prescription, click Send and choose Send as eRx.
The send flow has two steps. First, select Parchment as the pharmacy — it shows as Integrated once your setup is connected.
Then confirm the medications, choose the fulfilment option (deliver to the patient or collect from a pharmacy), optionally add a note for the pharmacist, and click Send to pharmacy.
Pabau creates (or updates) the patient in Parchment using the details on their client card and opens Parchment in a new tab, landed directly on that patient. Back in Pabau, the prescription row now carries an Open in Parchment action.
Step 8: Finalise the eScript in Parchment
The new tab lands on the patient's record in Parchment — created from Pabau with the IHI already verified against Australia's healthcare identifier service.
Click New prescription, search the medication in MIMS, and select the medicinal product pack. Setting the dose and frequency composes the patient instructions automatically, and the patient's email and mobile are pre-filled from Pabau — choose Email or SMS to deliver the eScript token to the patient.
Review the summary and click CONFIRM. Parchment verifies the patient's IHI, submits the prescription to the eRx script exchange, and delivers the token.
IMPORTANT: Parchment verifies patients against Australia's healthcare identifier service (IHI), so the patient record in Pabau needs a first name, last name and date of birth, plus an Australian-format mobile or landline number and a full Australian address (street number and name, suburb, state, and 4-digit postcode). Without these, the patient may show as inactive in Parchment until the details are completed.
Prescriptions Flow Back Automatically
Every eScript finalised in Parchment — whether it started from a Pabau send or was authored directly in the Parchment portal — appears on the client's Prescriptions tab in Pabau automatically, within seconds. The record carries the drug table (quantity, dosage, route), the script details in the notes (script number, prescriber, schedule, repeats and delivery method), and an Open in Parchment action that deep-links to the live eScript.
TIP: If you update a patient's contact details or address in Pabau, the changes are pushed to Parchment the next time you send a prescription for that patient — no need to edit the record in both systems.
