How to Port Your Fax Number to Pabau
This article guides you through porting your clinic's existing fax number into Pabau Engage, so you can keep the number your referrers and pharmacies already know instead of buying a new one. Porting is free, takes 7-10 business days, and your number keeps receiving faxes with your current provider until the switch - so you won't miss a fax.
TIP: Before you start, have your current fax provider's details to hand: the business name and account number as they appear on your account, the person authorized to approve the port, the account email and billing telephone number, the billing address on the account, your port-out PIN (if your provider uses one), and a copy of your most recent provider bill as a PDF, PNG, or JPG up to 5 MB. The carrier needs the bill to verify ownership.
Step 1: Open the Port Form
In Engage, click Channels in the navigation rail to open the Channel Catalog, then find the Fax card and click Port a number. The button is available whether or not you already have a fax number in Pabau - you can port your very first fax number without buying one.

You can also start a port from Settings · Fax Numbers: click Port a number in the toolbar of the All numbers tab, or Port an existing number if you have no numbers yet.
NOTE: If you would rather buy a brand-new fax number instead, we suggest reading our How to Set Up Fax in Engage (Buy a Fax Number) article.
Step 2: Enter the Number You Want to Port
The Port a fax number to Pabau form opens. In the Number to Port section, enter your Fax number including the country code (for example, +1 850 801 6346), then enter your Current provider (for example, eFax, RingCentral, or your phone company).

Step 3: Fill In Your Account Details with That Provider
In the Your Account with That Provider section, complete the Business name, Authorized person, Account email, Billing telephone number, and Account number fields exactly as they appear on your provider account. The Port-out PIN (if your provider uses one) field is optional - only fill it in if your provider issues one.
Step 4: Add the Billing Address and Attach Your Latest Bill
In the Billing Address on the Account section, enter the Street address, City, ZIP / postcode, and Country on file with your provider - State / province is optional. Then, under Most Recent Bill, click the upload area and attach a copy of your latest provider bill (PDF, PNG, or JPG, up to 5 MB). You can add any extra context, such as multiple numbers on the account or preferred timing, in the Anything else we should know? (optional) field.

NOTE: The footer below the form tells you if anything is missing. Once every required field is complete, it reads "Free - no charge to port a number in." and the Request port button becomes available. Your bill and port-out PIN are stored securely and are never shared publicly.
Step 5: Click Request Port
Click Request port. Once the request is filed, a confirmation screen appears with the heading Port request filed, confirming the number that will be submitted for porting. Click Done to close the form.

NOTE: You can only have one port request in progress per number - if you try to file the same number again, Engage will let you know a request is already in progress. Filing a request for a different number at the same time is fine.
Step 6: Track Your Port Request
Your request appears in Settings · Fax Numbers on the All numbers tab with a status pill that moves from Request received to Submitted to carrier to Porting in progress. We suggest reading our Tracking or Withdrawing a Port Request article for what each status means and how to withdraw a request.
IMPORTANT: Do not cancel your account with your current fax provider until the port completes. Your number keeps receiving faxes with your current provider until the switch, and the account must remain active for the carrier to verify ownership - cancelling early can cause you to lose the number and the port.
Once the port completes, your number appears as a normal fax number row in Settings · Fax Numbers and works like any other Pabau fax number, with per-page credit billing for faxes sent and received. We suggest reading our What Numbers Cost: Phone and Fax Pricing in Engage article for pricing details.
