[General](https://support.pabau.com/en/pabau2/app-marketplace-integrations?hsLang=en#general) # How to Find Your API Key ## In this guide, we’ll go over how to locate your API key in Pabau. An API key lets another system, such as Zapier, a reporting tool or your own developer, read and write data in your Pabau account. You create API keys and copy their credentials on the **APIs & Webhooks** page. **WARNING:** Your Client ID and access token give access to your clinic’s data, including client records. Only share them with tools and people you trust, and never paste them into an email or chat. **Step 1: Open APIs and Webhooks** Go to **Setup** ▸ **Developer & Other** ▸ **API Keys**. (**Private Apps** and **Webhooks** open the same page.) 1. **API Usage** shows how many API calls your account has made today against your daily limit. The count resets at midnight. 2. Open the **APIs** tab under **Your API keys & webhooks** to see your keys, with their description, status and the date they were created. 3. Click **New API Key** to create a key (see Step 2). 4. You don’t need it to connect your own tools. **Step 2: Create an API Key** If you don’t have a key for this integration yet, click **New API Key**. 1. Under **What would you like to create?**, select **API**. 2. In **Description**, enter a name that says what the key is for, for example “Zapier integration”. 3. Under **What permissions should this API key have?**, choose what the key may do with each type of data: **Read**, **Create**, **Update** or **Delete**. Every box is ticked to start with. Untick anything the integration doesn’t need, or click **Clear all** and tick only what it needs. 4. Click **Create**. If you stop using one tool, you can switch off its key without affecting the others. **Step 3: Copy Your Client ID and Access Token** On the **APIs** tab, click **Edit** on the key. 1. In the menu on the left, click **Overview** to expand it, then click **Auth**. 2. Click **Copy** next to the **Client ID**. 3. Click **Copy** next to the **Access Token**. The token is hidden; click **Show Token** if you need to see it. Pick a day, search, and open a row to see the full request and response, which helps when an integration isn’t working. **Step 4: Rotate or Deactivate a Key** Use these if a key may have been shared with the wrong person, or an integration should stop working. 1. **Rotate key** replaces the access token. The old token stops working straight away, so any integration still using it will fail until you paste in the new one. To confirm, type the key’s name and click **Rotate key**. 2. **Deactivate key** makes Pabau reject every request that uses the key, without changing the key itself.
