# How to Customise the Location Online Booking Settings

## Simplifying location selection helps clients book their appointments with ease, reducing any potential confusion.

**NOTE:** This guide covers the new Online Bookings and Client Portal, which are being rolled out to clinics in phases. If your screens look different, your account may still be on the classic version — message us via the in-app chat and we will help.

When you have more than one location, the first booking step asks clients where they would like to be seen. The classic **Customize → Location** tab had two settings for this. In the new Online Bookings, the location step is designed in the **Locations** section of Pabau Studio, and whether each location takes online bookings is set on the location itself.

In this article, you will learn how clients find a location now, how to change the location step, and how to choose which locations clients can book.

**Where the Location Settings Live Now**

| Classic setting | In the new version |
| --- | --- |
| Search location by post code | Always on. Clients can search by **Postcode, town or city** or tap **Use my current location**, and the list is sorted by distance. |
| Always select the client’s most visited location by default | No longer selected for the client. When a client is signed in, their own location is marked as their favourite and the list is ranked from their address, so it is easy to pick. |

**NOTE:** If you have only one location that takes online bookings, clients skip the location step altogether.

**Step 1: Open the Locations Section in Pabau Studio**

Go to **More → Online Bookings**, click **Customise page**, open the **Location** page and click **Edit**.

1. Hover over the list of locations and click the **Locations** label.
2. Under **Layout**, choose **Split + map**, **List only** or **Card grid**.
3. Under **Wording**, change the **Eyebrow**, **Title** and **Subtitle** at the top of the step. Leave a field empty to keep the standard wording.

**NOTE:** The locations you see in Studio are examples, so you can preview every layout. Your clients see your real locations.

**Step 2: Choose What Each Location Card Shows**

1. Scroll down the panel. Under **Display**, switch on what you want on each card: **Map**, **Call button** (the location’s phone number), **Directions link**, **Opening times**, **Services count**, **Category filter** and **Region filter** (chips that group your locations by the region set in **Setup → Locations**).
2. Under **Bookable online**, switch off any location that should not take online bookings from this page.

Click **Publish** to make your changes live.

**Step 3: Check Each Location’s Online Booking Settings**

Go to **Setup → Locations** and click the pencil next to a location. On the **General** tab:

1. Switch on **This location accepts online bookings** and **Show online**, then click **Save**.

| Switch | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **This location accepts online bookings** | Off: clients cannot book this location online at all — the same as switching it off under **Bookable online** in Studio. |
| **Show online** | Off: the location is left out of the list, but clients can still book it through a link that opens on that location, such as a tailored link from the **Share** tab. |
