How to Connect Quest Diagnostics to Pabau

Pabau connects directly to Quest Diagnostics, so your clinicians can order tests and receive results without a paper request form. Once the connection is made, Pabau signs in to the Quest Quanum portal on your clinic's behalf to place requests and pull results back into your patient records.

This guide covers the one-off setup. It takes a few minutes and only needs doing once per clinic.

NOTE: You will need the username and password your clinicians already use to sign in to the Quest Quanum portal, and access to Setup in Pabau. Quest Diagnostics is available to clinics in the United States — the labs list is locked to your clinic's region.

Step 1: Open the Labs Setup Page

Go to Setup and choose Labs. The page is split into two sections:

  1. Your labs — every lab your clinic is already connected to.
  2. Available integrations — the wider catalogue of labs you can connect, filterable by request method and searchable by name.

Step 2: Find Quest Diagnostics and Select Configure

Search for Quest in Available integrations, or filter the list by Direct integration. Quest Diagnostics is a direct integration, which means Pabau talks to Quest's own portal rather than emailing or faxing a request form.

Select Configure on the Quest Diagnostics card. Setup runs in three short steps, shown down the left of the panel:

  1. Link your lab — account & address details
  2. Select your form — choose a request form
  3. Map your tests — panels & tests offered

Step 3: Link Your Quest Account

Step 1 connects your Quest portal account. Enter:

  1. Username — your Quest Diagnostics portal sign-in email.
  2. Password — the password for that portal account.

Open Lab Details underneath to add the lab's contact details and address. Address line 1 is required before you can continue.

NOTE: Your password is stored encrypted and is used only to connect to Quest Diagnostics. Pabau never shows it back to you — once saved, the fields display dots rather than the stored value.

IMPORTANT: Quest allows only one active session per user. If a colleague is signed in to the Quanum portal with the same login, connecting here — and every later sync — will sign them out. Consider using a dedicated Quest account for the integration.

Step 4: Check the Connection

Select Check connection. Pabau opens a secure browser session against the Quest portal, signs in with the details you entered, and reads the practitioner's name straight back. Give it a few seconds.

When it succeeds you will see Connection successful followed by the practitioner name Quest recognises. If the details are wrong you will see Could not connect — check your details.

NOTE: Your sign-in is saved as soon as you run the check, so the connection stays usable even if the check itself comes back inconclusive — a colleague signed in to Quanum at that moment can bounce an otherwise valid check.

TIP: This is a real sign-in rather than a stored token, so it proves the whole path end to end. It is worth doing now — it confirms the credentials work before anyone has to depend on them in the middle of a clinic.

Step 5: Select Your Request Form

Step 2 sets the request form your clinicians complete when ordering diagnostics through Quest. You have two options:

  1. Create one for me (recommended) — Pabau adds a "Quest Diagnostics Request Form" pre-filled with Quest's address, ready to use straight away.
  2. Use an existing form — pick a lab request form from your own form library.

NOTE: Only forms of type lab from your form library appear in the picker. If the list is empty, create a lab request form first under Setup > Forms.

Step 6: Map Your Tests to Pabau Services

Step 3 lists the panels and individual tests Quest offers, synced from its catalogue — each with its Quest order code and health category. Mapping a panel to the matching Pabau service keeps ordering and billing aligned.

For each row you can:

  1. Quick map — creates a matching service at the price you set, in the row's health category, and maps it in one step.
  2. Map service — choose an existing Pabau service yourself.

Use the search box and the All / Panels / Tests filters to narrow a large catalogue. The badge at the top of the step tracks your progress — Partially mapped or Fully mapped — and the footer shows how many of the mappable rows are done.

TIP: You do not need to map everything in one sitting. Map the panels your clinic actually orders, finish setup, and come back to Configure later to map the rest. To unmap a row, click the mapped service.

Step 7: Finish Setup

Select Finish setup. Quest Diagnostics now appears under Your labs with a Connected badge and a Direct integration label, and your clinicians can request Quest diagnostics from any client record.

The connected card also gains a Sync results action, which pulls your Quest orders and results into Pabau.

NOTE: To disconnect, open Configure on the connected card and choose Revoke access. Your stored sign-in is removed and Quest moves back to Available integrations.

TIP: Next, see How to Sync Quest Diagnostics Results into Pabau to bring your existing orders and results in, and How to Order a Quest Diagnostics Test From a Client Record to place your first request.

By following these steps, Quest Diagnostics is connected once and your clinicians can order tests and receive results without a paper request form.
