How to Connect Facebook Messenger to Engage
This article guides you through connecting your clinic's Facebook Page to Engage. Once connected, Messenger messages and ad enquiries land in the Engage inbox alongside your other channels, and your team can reply from the same place — without opening Facebook.
NOTE: To complete this setup, you need to be an admin of your clinic's Facebook Page, and you'll sign in to Facebook during the process. There is no monthly subscription or per-message credit charge for the Facebook channel.
Step 1: Open the Channel Catalog
In Engage, click the Channels button in the navigation rail to open the Channel Catalog. Scroll to the Business Messaging section and find the Facebook card — before setup, its status line reads Facebook · not connected. Click Connect to open the Connect Facebook wizard.

Step 2: Authorize with Facebook
On the Authorize step, click Continue with Facebook. A Facebook login window opens — sign in, choose the Page you want to connect, and grant Pabau permission to read and reply to its messages.
The permissions panel on this step shows exactly what access you're granting: Pabau can read and reply to your Page's Messenger conversations and see the basic public profile of people who message you. Pabau will never post to your Page or timeline on your behalf, and it cannot see messages from other Pabau customers.
When authorization succeeds, the button changes to Connected to Meta and the wizard moves to the next step automatically.

Step 3: Pick the Facebook Page
On the Page step, you'll see every Facebook Page you administer. Select the Page you want to connect to Engage — the first one is selected for you, and Pages that are already connected show a check badge with the tooltip Already connected. Then click Continue.

NOTE: If Facebook didn't share any Pages with Pabau, the wizard shows on-screen guidance to fix it — we suggest reading our Facebook and Instagram Troubleshooting in Engage article for a full walkthrough.
Step 4: Choose Your Message Settings
On the Messages step, toggle the types of Facebook messages you want flowing into your Engage inbox:
- Direct messages — clients messaging your Page through Messenger (on by default, recommended).
- Ad enquiries — replies to your click-to-Messenger ads, which are usually high-intent (on by default, recommended).
- Comment replies — private replies to comments on your Page posts (off by default).
At least one message type must be switched on to continue. You'll also see Assign to and Auto-reply outside business hours cards on this step — to automatically assign or route incoming Facebook conversations to your team, we suggest reading our Conversation Routing: Auto-Route Incoming Messages in Engage article.

Step 5: Activate Facebook
Click Activate Facebook. Engage completes the connection and shows a confirmation screen with a summary of your Page and message settings. Click Done to finish.

Back in the Channel Catalog, the Facebook card now shows a green Live ribbon with your Page name and a Manage button, which you can use later to refresh sender names, reconnect, switch Page, or disconnect.
After You Connect
New Facebook messages start landing in your Engage inbox within a minute. Each sender gets their own conversation with their Facebook name and profile photo where available, and a Facebook filter appears in the navigation rail so you can view just those conversations. Because senders are usually not yet clients, the conversation shows a Not a patient badge with options to link or create one — replying works either way.
We suggest reading our Replying to Facebook and Instagram Messages in Engage article for how to respond to these conversations, and our How to Connect Instagram DMs to Engage article to bring Instagram messages into the same inbox.
