How to Automatically Send a Precare SMS When Booking Online
In this article, you will learn how to automatically send a precare SMS when a client books an appointment through the online booking portal by linking an SMS template to the service.
When a client books an appointment via the online booking portal, Pabau can automatically send a precare SMS with instructions for how to prepare before the visit. This helps reduce no-shows, ensures clients arrive ready, and saves your team time.
To make this work, you need to create a precare SMS template and then link it to the service using the Client Pathway.
Step 1: Access the SMS Templates
Log in to your Pabau account, then go to Setup and navigate to the Marketing & Communication section. Click on "Templates" located under Communications.
Step 2: Create a Precare SMS Template
Inside, click "Create Template" located on the right side of the screen and choose SMS.
Write your message using merge tags if needed, and then click "Save".
Example template:
Hi [APPOINTMENTFIRSTNAME], thanks for booking your appointment. Please arrive 10 minutes early and avoid wearing makeup or skincare products. Questions? Call us anytime.
Tip: Use different templates for different services if your instructions vary.
Step 3: Link the SMS Template to the Service
Now go to Setup > Services, and find the service you want to attach the precare SMS to.
Click to edit the service, then go to the Client Pathway tab. Click the plus (+) icon in the “Before” section, select "SMS".
Inside, search for the template you created.
Make sure it's set to send on booking.
Once selected, you’ll see the template appear in the Client Pathway under the “Before” section.
Click "Save" in the top-right corner to confirm your changes.
Once this setup is complete, clients who book via Connect will automatically receive your precare SMS as long as they have a valid mobile number. If the service requires payment, the message will be sent after payment is made. For free services, the message is sent immediately after booking.
NOTE: The precare SMS can include any information you want to send to the client before their appointment—from preparation instructions to directions, parking info, or reminders about your cancellation policy.
