# How to Add Several Policies with the Same Insurer (New Client Card)

A client can hold more than one policy with the same insurer, for example a new plan year with a new member number, or a second plan through a different employer. Each policy keeps its own member number, and each insurance case bills the policy you choose.

**NOTE:** You'll find policies on the **Insurance** tab of the client card, which shows when Insurance Billing is switched on for your account. **Step 1: Add Another Policy With the Same Insurer**

1. Open the client's card, click the **Insurance** tab and click **New Policy**.

1. In **Add Insurance Provider**, click the insurer the client already has. Its tile says **Already linked**.
2. The button at the bottom changes to **Add another policy**. Click it.
3. Enter the new policy's **Member ID** (the number printed on the client's insurance card) and click **Create**. Use **More options** if you want to record the policy's dates and other details now.

The new policy appears under **Insurance Policies** next to the first one. Cases the client already has keep billing the policy they were on. If Pabau can't confirm that, it shows **Some existing cases may now bill the new policy**: check each case and use **Change policy** (Step 3) to move one back.

**Step 2: Choose the Policy When You Add a Case**

1. Under **Case Details**, click **Add Case**.
2. When the client has more than one policy, Pabau asks **Add case to which policy?** Pick the policy by its member number, then fill in the case as usual.

**Step 3: Move a Case to Another Policy**

1. Under **Case Details**, click **View** on the case.
2. In the **Insurance policy** section, click **Change policy**.
3. In **Which policy does this case bill?**, click the policy the case should bill from now on.

**TIP:** **Change policy** only shows when the case's insurer has more than one policy for this client. It moves the case between those policies; it doesn't move a case to a different insurer.

**Step 4: Remove One of the Policies**

1. Click the three dots on the policy you want to remove.
2. Choose **Remove policy**.
3. Pabau asks **Remove this policy?** and explains that the client's other policies with that insurer stay, and any case on the removed policy moves to the latest one. Click **Remove** to confirm, or **Cancel**.

**NOTE:** When the client has only one policy with an insurer, the same menu shows **Remove insurance provider** instead, which unlinks the insurer from the client.
