Email in Engage: Sending, Forwarding and Mailboxes Explained
Email in Engage works out of the box — it is two-way from day one, with no setup required. This article explains how the pieces fit: the built-in sending, your sender addresses, and the optional mailbox connections.
Two-Way by Default
Outbound email sends from your clinic’s verified address, and replies land straight back in the inbox’s Email channel. Every email conversation gets the same treatment as SMS or WhatsApp — assignment, labels, templates, the patient panel.

Senders and Domains
Settings → Email lists your sender addresses grouped by domain. Each domain has two steps:
- Confirm your addresses — prove you own the address that sends.
- Authenticate this domain — add DNS records so your emails are signed by your own domain. Until this is done your emails still send, but they are signed by the sending service instead — and more of them land in spam. Click Set up this domain and follow the DNS instructions.
IMPORTANT: Domain authentication is the single best deliverability upgrade you can make — do it once per domain and reminders stop fighting the spam folder.
Synced Mailboxes: Gmail and Office 365
Optionally, connect a staff mailbox so its mail appears in Engage: Gmail and Office 365 have their own channel cards. Synced mailboxes appear in the sidebar nested under Email, each with its own count. See our How to Connect Gmail or Microsoft 365 (Outlook) to Engage article.
Forwarded Inboxes
Already have an address like reception@yourclinic.com with years of history? Forward it into Engage and its mail joins the same inbox — see our How to Set Up Email Forwarding into Engage article.
