Electronic remittances (ERAs) are how payers tell you a claim has been paid. Normally you pull them in yourself from the Remittance tab. If you'd rather Pabau keep an eye out, you can switch on background ERA checks: Pabau looks for new remittances on your Claim.MD account and shows a count of how many are waiting, so you know when it's worth opening the tab.
NOTE: The insurance billing module is available for practices in the United States and works with your connected Claim.MD account. Background checks are off by default — you can always pull remittances in by hand whether they're on or off.
Turning it on
- Go to your Claim.MD setup and open the Credentials tab (your account must already be connected).
- Tick Automatically check for new remittances (ERAs).
That's it. From then on Pabau checks in the background and keeps a running count of remittances you haven't looked at yet.
NOTE: The first check after you switch it on just takes stock of what's already on your account — it won't flag your whole history as "new". Only remittances that arrive from then on are counted.
Seeing what's waiting
When new remittances have arrived, the Claim.MD remittances panel (Money → Remittances) shows a count of new ones next to its title. Open the panel to review them; the count clears once you've looked. If more arrive later, the count comes back.
TIP: The count is a prompt to look — it doesn't post anything. Pulling a remittance in still creates a draft you review and post on the match screen, exactly as before. See How to record insurer payments with remittances.
Turning it off
Untick the same box on the Credentials tab. Pabau stops checking in the background; you can still pull remittances in manually any time.
